About Me

I guess you could say I’m a late bloomer domestically, because I settled down a little later than most of my friends. I’m a mom of four who has been married for almost ten years. Yet I still feel like a rookie when it comes to homemaking. Maybe because I am surrounded by friends and relatives who are disgustingly talented homemakers.

I am a walking contradiction in so many ways. I make whole wheat bread for my family regularly, but I can’t stand ironing. I love to bake but am not a great cook. We eat steel cut oatmeal with ground flaxseed for breakfast most days and lots of veggies, but I am pitifully addicted to sugar. I’m not very crafty, but I spent a few years making clocks for a living.

I am married to the hottest elementary school teacher in the west. My husband is quite the trooper, putting up with my experiments, projects, and short attention span. It’s a good thing he isn’t picky.

I document some of my domestic attempts here, and record them for future generations to try. Or to mock.

I am always in search of simple projects, recipes, and crafts. Simple being the key word! Please send them my way!

Random facts about my blissfully boring life:

  • I’m a business owner & WAHM.
  • I’m sort of tall. About 6’1″, and I love it. I also run a Tall Moms blog. Sometimes. Did I mention I’m a fickle blogger?
  • I’m a former teacher & am married to one. If you want to complain about teachers (in general) this is not the place to do it. The system? Ok. But not about teachers.
  • Before family life, volleyball was my passion. I played in college & then overseas after. I used to coach, & may return to coaching when my kids are older.
  • I have issues. So many issues. But I’m getting better out of necessity. It’s hard to have OCD with four tiny kids.
  • Things I love: hot baths or showers, my electric blanket, Arizona, basically anything warm. Also, avocados, chocolate, HGTV home improvement shows, travel (before I became Mom), and last but not least, The Office (best Dundees show ever!). And more recently, Parks and Recreation.
